The boy’s varsity tennis team closed out their last home match with an impressive 5-0 shut out against Normandy. It was Bulldog winners all across the board as the team wasted no time getting the win on each court in straight sets.
On court one at first singles, junior Marco Grgurevic lead his match with several aces and well placed winners. It was a strong win for Grgurevic as he won easily, 6-1,6-0.
Next up was senior co-captain, Joe Bertrand at second singles. Bertrand made his way to the net several times to attack his volleys and kept his opponent guessing. The 6-1, 6-0 win brought Bertrand his 10th win of the season for dual matches.
At third singles on court three, it was senior, Jon Kopp. The co-captain kept his opponent on the run and fired off aces from both the deuce and ad sides of the court. It was a strong day for Kopp as he quickly won his match 6-2, 6-2.
It was a family win on court four as Adam and Nathan Mader took to the courts for first doubles. Both Maders, covered the court well and continued to score aces and keep control of the match from the start. They only gave up one game as the grabbed the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 match score.
In the final match of the day it was senior, Grayson Stallman and freshman, Evan Toth getting the win at second doubles with a match score of 6-2, 6-1. Toth and Stallman each covered the baseline and the net and never allowed their opponents a chance to gain momentum.
The team will travel to Elyria on Thursday for a combined varsity/jv match against Elyria High School. The match will be played at Lorain Community College at 4:15pm
