The boy’s varsity tennis team earned another conference win on Monday by defeating Berea-Midpark 4-1.
First off the courts with his fifth straight win was sophomore, Evan Toth. He won his match in under an hour with a strong 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles. Toth took control and never looked back as he earned another win for the team.
Next off the courts, at second doubles, were juniors John McNea and John Gaba. The duo came back from being down in the first set. They improved their focus and took control of the match with strong serves and net play. They went on to win their match 6-4, 7-5.
After losing their first set, Co-captain John Ewida and sophomore Adam Mader came back s and really turned their match around with great court coverage. They fell behind in the third set 2-5, but made an impressive comeback and won 7-5. Their final match score was 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. This is their third conference win.
Nathan Mader, at second singles, also rallied back after being down a set. He played stronger as the match progressed and never gave up. Even when it got close at the end of the set, Mader chased down several shots well into the back court and kept the ball in play. He went on to win the match 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. He is currently 3-3 at second singles in the conference
