Lakewood High School-Lakewood
Olmsted Falls High School
Bulldogs Round Up The Rangers 5-0
Kolonick and Lemin Both Score Two Goals As Dogs Roll
The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs soccer club returned to the SWC win column with a 5-0 victory over the Lakewood Rangers on a gorgeous evening at the OFMS Soccer Stadium. The Dogs used speed and strong runs to break out with four goals in the 2nd half to win their 2nd SWC match of the year behind two goals each from seniors Kevin Lemin and Ryan Kolonick. Senior Shelby Edwards racked up his 3rd shutout and made 3 saves between the pipes.
The Dogs came out strong in the opening minutes and put a cross through the box within 60 seconds and kept up a healthy work rate for most of the evening. Strong defensive play from Mark Ortiz, Chase Fernkorn, and Alex Kleck allowed Olmsted Falls to find scoring lanes all evening with accurate outlet passing and clogging up the midfield against Lakewood counter attacks.
At the 5-minute mark after three crosses didnât connect, Kevin Lemin pounced on a loose ball after a deflected pass and knocked it pass the goalie for a 1-0 Bulldogs lead. Danny Cleary had through ball in the box poked away for a corner kick that sailed high followed by a strong run and shot by junior Brandon Chapman around 15-minute mark. Joe Bement deflected a free kick just over the net around 37th minute. The slow turf led to Lakewood jumping a couple back passes and creating scoring chances although the Rangers managed zero shots on goal by halftime with the Bulldogs leading 1-0.
After another Bulldog fast break came up short, senior Ryan Kolonick took matters into his own hands knifed through the left side the Ranger box and went short side with his right foot to give the Dogs a 2-0 lead. After a Wikle to Lemin combo hit the post, Kolonick struck again. The senior halfback went left, took a pass from Danny Cleary and beat the Ranger GK to put Dogs up 3-0. Kolonick had a third goal waved off minutes later and then senior Sam Kasputis scored his 1st Bulldog goal on an assist from Rylan Wikle and put the match out of reach 4-0 with 13 minutes left. Kevin Lemin punched in a right footed goal with 4 minutes left for the final margin of victory 5-0.
The Dogs take a short break from SWC play and head west to Toledo to battle the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets in their 1st meeting between the schools. The teams play at 1pm this Saturday at Perrysburg High School.
